Exploration is the theme of this season's STONE ISLAND Autumn Winter '011 '012 Collection.
Exploration into the past to look into the future, to anticipate needs and desires is this season's inspiration. The magic of expeditions such as a trip to the moon and the Arctic are extreme concepts, and are incorporated through references and functions. Research into modernity considering fabric weaves and product detail are blended with them with STONE ISLAND experience in military and work wear.
TREATMENTS AND APPEARANCE
Metallic and shiny effects are combined with matte textures, a renewed organic quality and a sporty, performance feel.
Layered treatments: fading, ageing, oxidising, double dyeing and hand spraying on the finished garment.

HYDROPHOBIC
A treatment on the finished garment to make it highly water repellent; environmentally friendly because it is PFDA (perfluor-odecanoic acid) -free. This treatment is imperceptible to the touch, yet alters the performance of garments considerably. For jumpers, sweatshirts, jeans and trousers.
KEY PIECES
High visibility LIQUID REFLECTIVE JACKET
Jacket created in a reflective fabric with a coating made up of thousands of glass microspheres, in addition to an exclusive treatment on the finished garment using hand spraying of colour and sub-sequent oven dry. Each garment is different from the next.
GARMENT-DYED DOWN JACKET
Is the height of colour, warmth and lightness, made with ultra light nylon, weighing just 26g per metre square; padded by direct injection of the down, which is specially treated in advance to stand up to the stress of garment dyeing with the addition of a special reagent that makes the garment anti-drop.
NYLON SHEEN
A new creation from the STONE ISLAND research laboratory. This exclusive fabric is create using an unusual weaving formula: 100% nylon monofilament weft and 100% superfine nylon yarn warp, which takes on an incredible shine by means of garment dyeing.
ICE JACKET
The iconic jacket that changes colour with a change in temperature, owing to a thermo sensitive coating.
GHOST PIECE in Ventile ®
camouflage applied to totally monochromatic garments -even the STONE ISLAND badge is in the same tone. The textile excellence of 100% cotton Ventile®, developed in Great Britain for British fighter pilots' overalls during the Second World War and still used to this day in the British Antarctic Base by NATO pilots and for expeditions above 8000 mt. This fabric provides high performance in all weather conditions and is naturally water repellent and breathable.
SHOES, in association with Diemme. The STONE ISLAND aesthetics with the MULTIFUNCTION ® SOLE by FRASSON, made in Italy, a highly innovative, technical sole that improves grip even in extreme conditions.
